Imar White and Mechela Barnes, both of Bellarmine Prep, distinguished themselves as the Down In Front Floorburn Players of the Week for recklessly throwing their bodies around the court in pursuit of loose basketballs, taking charges and muscling around under the basket while in the presence of larger players.

White inspired his team’s district victory over Kentridge just a week after he underwent eye surgery and had a torn tear duct repaired. Barnes, a 5-10 slightly-built gal,  banged around with 6-3 Riley Butler in the Lions’ win over Kentlake last weekend and outrebounded her opponent.
